The Logic arpeggiator is a joke. After all this time, there should finally be a real arpeggiator plug-in (selectable right in the mixer channel strip) which includes hundreds of intelligent patterns - including "feel" by varying length, groove, and velocity - and user-programmable patterns. The MIDI output should be recordable into a track.

i have been looking everywhere for the answer to this very question - whether logic can make arppegios or not so i can decide whether to just buy a midi controller or a workstation an apple employee who did a workshop on logic and sales reps at Sam Ash did not know the answer to this simple ques2 sales reps told me that the only way to mnake an arppegiator in Logic is to make it externally on a workstation then import the data in as a track

make sure you tell people to bounce in Real Time, as opposed to Offline, or you will just hear chords when it exports. took me a while to figure that out ha

Another tip if anyone is interested. Open key editor (alt +K) Under Global Commands find "Set Locators by Region/Events". Click learn by key and hit the shift and tild buttons (the two to the left of Z!) I use this in a combination with Alt A (select all parts) then shift + tild (to set the locators for all parts) and then finally C to put Logic into cycle mode.I find this a quick way to get a track ready to bounce down or play through. Not sure if there is a quicker way at all tho?

i like the arp in logic.. but you should see what the cubase arpache can do.. you create your custom arpeggios in it !! Apart from doing what the logic arp does.. you can make a one or two bar midi file with the choice of your own intervals and notes.. and just playon!!for eg .. you could make a gm drumkit pattern and save it and use it with altogether different kit .. !!

Read the manual!, I never liked that answer, but the big set of books that came with Logic Studio has a purpose.I know many people buy or get LS and don't know how to make music or how to use any DAW, that is not a problem it only means it will be harder for them. But the manual on LS is one of the best ever written.
