In Japan it's considered big. They do keep track of wins and losses throughout a wrestler's career.

This type of wrestling is still being done. But after FMW closed in 2002, it has received less mainstream attention. Big Japan Pro Wrestling is still doing it. These types of matches were being done between the years 1989 to around 1997/98 in FMW, after which, they began to lose good names through retirements and departures, & FMW came under new management after this time. It became more like a Japanese WWE until Hayabusa broke his neck and retired, thus ending the company.
