Black Sabbath started metal. Both The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are not metal, they are classic rock.

The Beatles created the first true heavy metal song, and that song was Helter Skelter. Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, etc might have been the bands that pironeered metal, but without The Beatles metal wouldn't be.

I would agree with you on the heavy part, but Zepplin had a large role in the creation of heavy metal, and Black Sabbath were influenced by them, although Sabbath did create heavy metal.
