Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? That movie scared me because I can see it actually happening. The decline in vocabulary has hit a level of ignorance that is truly frightening. Many words like arbitrary, esthetic, belligerent, harried, discourse, etc, have lost their place in most of the younger generation's vocabulary (even my own 20-something generation.), to the extent that they have no idea even to the meaning of the words. I honestly think that each generation is getting dumber.
