Hmm, I wonder how many milliwatts of power that could push. Imagine the energy that could be harnessed from hot pavement or a roof in summer. Air conditioning could be so cheap...the hotter the sun, the better your compressor would run (if powered by a stirling type engine). Maybe there is no such thing as "free" energy, but then again, I've yet to get a bill for sunlight, but I do pay dearly in summer to fight it. Why not join forces with it instead? ;-)

Alternative current is nowhere near as good as trance or industrial current.

Bah the frame rate didn't like the speed of the engine..

Stirling motors are being used in spain in solar power plants. However, the reason for their lack of adoption at this point is that fossil fuel provides more power output for less cost. As the price of oil increases, this will change.

Seriously, there are so many Stirling motor configurations that is dissapointing to see how dependant on fossil fules we are. Where can we go to start building our own solar versions? Who is stopping us from exploiting this concept to its maximum potential? We have to develop and network this niche.

what is the heat source?

no crank needed. just put a magnet on the piston and a coil around it and you get alternative current.
