BTW, this has been possible with the Harmonia project from UC Berkeley since about 2000. Actually a lot more.

Even though I'm a Vimmer at heart, I really like this feature! Which is why I wrote a plugin for Vim to do the same thing...=P

Nice feature! I've just started learning emacs, but I already like it better than vi.
