My brother got a Mitchell's Mauser for Christmas. 1943 German. Laminated stock. pristine bore. nice bluing. About $400. Going fast.

I own the M-96 and the M-38 in 6.5X55 They are some of the Best-Build Guns on the market. Buy them while you can, and put them away for later-years.

Nice gun. Doesn't kick that hard though. Kicks pretty light by most deer rifle standards. Try shooting an m-48 or a k-98 with full power 8x57 mm shells. Got to use European shells because the U.S. manufacturers load them to about 30-30 power. I use the hot Turkish loads which are 198 grain at 2,550 fps and kick more than a 30-06. That 6.5 that you have has about 10 ft lbs of recoil the full power 8x57 has about 25 ft lbs.
