I agree, and my last post was a little bit rushed. I sound like a bit of an ass. My big beef is that, even though it's a homage, it'd be great to see this girl (clearly she has some vocal talent) improvise her own lines instead of regurgitating the entire improvisation (arranged or not). While I understand the importance of learning the lines of the greats to build your own chops, jazz is all about your own original voice, which isn't as evident here as it could or should be.

I wouldn't dwell too much on how much Ella improvised stuff. With all due respect to her incredible talent, most of her solos were actually the same from one concert to the other, with some variations.This is a hommage to Ella, so I don't see a problem covering it, be it note for note. I'm still trying to reproduce the solo from "How high the moon", in vain.

Gee, the girl is 13 and can actually sing the song very well. She already sang at the Montreal's jazz festival and did the Carnegy Hall. Not so good...Well if she's not so good, can you name so alive people who are good?
