I strongly disagree. While this TV Spot plays the fighting up heavily, and the SCA does place a lot of emphasis on fighting... you will not find Elves and Dwarves and Trolls at an SCA event. The Pennsic War boasts an excellent class schedule for medieval crafts as well as period choir and other historically accurate entertainments. In the US, true historical re-enactment is usually mainly done by American Revolutionary and American Civil War folks. SCA is "re-enactment lite" :)

I don't see much historical though. This is somewhere in between LARP and normal re-enactment.

SCA RULES! my step dad was a thrown weapons marshal in the midrealm some years ago.

LARP is usually based on fantasy, SCA is based on history. LARP weapons are usually foam, SCA weapons are Rattan based sticks (which would hurt pretty bad if participants weren't wearing full body armor which is a requirement in SCA fighting). LARPing is a game, SCA is an amateur attempt at historical re-enactment.
