Jo Stafford had such a tremendous voice and this song was one of her best. I too think of my father when I here this song. My parents generation were the ones that sacrificed for our lifestyle of today. Thanks for posting.

More than beautiful, a real tear jerker. This brings my 82 years full circle to ww2, however, Long Ago and Far Away is still numero uno! gotta go get the tissues!

This is just gloriously performed perfection! Jo's exquisite voice and the beautiful phrasing and orchestration behind her on this recording is gorgeous! The angels in heaven are surely rejoicing to have yet another great voice and performer like Jo from this incredible generation join them.
