WOTWEET You obviously don't know much about jazz historically. For starters, that is his trademark sound. Very edgy.. and very sharp. Now why would he want to do that you ask? For starters it helped set him apart from other players. He wasn't a big band player, and in those days, you could play however you wanted as long as you were that good. He wasn't tone deaf, he knew he was playing sharp. MANY of the jazz greats did not play with intonation in mind.

Curious. I wonder if this guy is tone deaf? That's at least 25 cents sharp all the way through. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to a person with normal hearing. His own "characteristic sound" is to play consistently out of tune LMAO

Correction to 2 mistakes I made. Appointment in Ghana was done at a different concert with Woody Shaw on trumpet, but video is here on YouTube too. It's one of the other great compostions from Jackie's Bag, which was recorded in '59 & '60. So this was 30 years later, not 20 as I wrote. Bad head for numbers.
